21 Day Fix!

Even though I’m a die-hard Weight Watchers fan, there are times where I get a fire in my belly about nutrition.  I have this desire to make sure I’m eating just the right amount of each of the food groups.  Lately, my portions have been a little on the “out of control huge” side, so I figured the 21 day fix would be just thing ticket.

Since I’m a numbers, organization, and planning freak… I created a spreadsheet, called Meal Planner 6.29.15 using Excel, that will help me plan my meals according to the 21 Day Fix eating plan.  Here’s a sneak peak of what it looks like:

At the very top is the number of each container I’m targeting — red for protein, purple for fruit, green for veggies, yellow for starchy carbs, blue for nuts/cheese, orange for seeds/dressing, and grey for teaspoons of nut butters/healthy fats.

I’ve done the 21 day fix before — and it was actually pretty straight forward.  I lost nearly 10 pounds in three weeks and didn’t feel deprived.  During the 3 weeks, I was able to go out to eat, having a few treats, and accomplish the goal of working out every day.  So what happened?  I stopped taking care of myself and putting myself first.  I had only the short term goal of “make it through these three weeks” instead of a long term and a short term goal.  So here I go again!

My long term goals haven’t changed — run a half marathon and a full marathon… I’m just upping my training-game by incorporating weight training and clean eating/portion control.  Here’s my plan for the next three weeks:

Weeks 8, 9, & 10:

M – Run, T – Upper Fix, W – Run, Th – Pilates, F- Run, Sat – Dirty 30, Sun – Yoga.
I’ll treat Thursdays and Sundays as active rest days, so I’m only really incorporating an Arm day and a day of total body weight training.  This is the first week of my new plan… I’ll keep you posted as I go along!
