Change of Plans

Change of Plans

21 Day fix… So just a few days ago, the plan for my hubby and I was all 21 day fix.  Realistically, the 21 day fix is something sustainable, clean, and “real food” centered.  I can easily plan meals around healthy choices and make sure I’m maintaining balance this way.  Though we are both still health & fitness focused, we’re doing our own version of the 21 day fix — in a more reasonable way (that incorporates treats as well…

Ready for Battle

Ready for Battle

Lately, I’ve been feeling a bit discouraged and defeated. Defeated on the scale — it’s definitely not where I want it. Defeated on my runs — I just don’t feel fast enough Defeated in a financial sense — I should be a millionaire by now, surely? But then I had this thought — a giant “F – you” to those feelings!  When I started counting all the great things in my life, I remembered something important:  I’m friggin’ AWESOME!   …

Salmon Patties

Salmon Patties

Made these beauties for dinner tonight.    I always ate these simple Salmon Patties at my grandma’s house and she always served them with tomato soup. This meal hit the spot!! Ingredients One large can salmon – if you can, get boneless skinless.  If your store is like mine and didn’t have that option, just drain and remove skin and either remove bones or crush them with your fingers or a fork.  Two eggs 1 cup finely Chopped onion Half…

Fueling for runs

Fueling for runs

Fuel History My running background is all shorter distances — 1 or 2 miles, 5K’s, and 10K’s — so during training and races I feel fine running on an empty stomach.  I’ve never had to give a thought to fueling for runs until now. In the process of training for my first half-marathon, — in JULY in the SOUTH — I’m faced with the reality that I’ll need to hydrate and fuel before, during, and after runs.  On the few…

20 Top Horror Films on Netflix

20 Top Horror Films on Netflix

Netflix Love! Netflix is my obsession!  I love being able to binge watch my favorite TV shows without commercials.  I’m so spoiled by Netflix that when I do watch actual live TV, I get frustrated at how long each commercial break is!  (But I mean really, 5 minutes of commercials is like an eternity!!) I also love Horror movies, Scary Movies, and Thrillers — as long as it’s the middle of the day!  ^_^ So when my friend posted about…

Treadmill Workout == Zone out!

Treadmill Workout == Zone out!

Treadmill workout today Today’s scheduled workout was 2 mile walk, 2 mile run, and 2 mile walk — based on my awesome 8 week half marathon training plan! While I had originally planned to run outside and even went to the length of mapping out routes, testing for shady streets, and prepping a water bottle — an alert on my phone brought this plan to a screeching halt.  Heat Advisory!! So I regrouped and thought of a plan — I’ll…

Burt’s bees

Burt’s bees

Picked up my new favorite lip balm yesterday…     It’s super smooth, smells slightly sweet, and provides just the faintest hint of color- enough so I don’t look like a pale lipped corpse but not so much that I look like I charge by the hour.  Love it!!
