I hope you had a great week of training last week!
In reviewing last week and planning this week, I made the mistake of counting how many weeks are left in my training cycle O_o… Seven weeks!! This week plus 6 more weeks!! That’s not much at all!! I feel motivated, energized, and TBH – terrified! My registration went through for the actual Marathon I’m running, so it all just feels so real!
Any other first timers feeling this way??
Here’s how last week went:
Monday – 4 miles/ 4 miles
Tuesday – Upper Strength & Stretch / Upper strength & stretch
Wednesday – 7 miles / 7 miles!
Thursday – Rest / rest
Friday – OFF/OFF
Saturday – 14 miles / 14.2 miles!!!
Sunday – Yoga + Foam Rolling / yoga + foam rolling!!
Saturday’s long run was super HOT! I started about an hour and a half later than I had originally planned… and it turned out to be the hottest day of the week. With temps in the high 90’s and humidity up in the 95% range, I made sure to go nice and slow while sucking down tons of water. The first half of my run was cooler, so the humidity didn’t feel so suffocating. It wasn’t until around 10am that it really started to put a strain on me. Luckily, by that time I had only a handful of miles left so my mental game pushed me through to the end! Phew!
I’ll be so glad when fall hits the south — Come on cooler temps!!
