Tired?

Tired?

This week has been just a series of bad nights of sleep — one after another.  It started Monday night; I couldn’t find a comfortable position due to “Post Murph Soreness”.   Memorial Day This Hero Workout was done Monday in honor of Memorial Day and all those who gave their lives for our country.  I heard on the news that morning that of the US population “of age” to serve, less that 1% currently do.  This, to me, shows…

Deadlifts and Double Unders

Deadlifts and Double Unders

Deadlifts Some days in the gym are a real struggle for me — but then others, like last night, are such a thrill! Last night we worked on Deadlifts and tried to find a new PR (Personal Record).  Our coach gave us around 30 minutes and there were a big handful of us all working on it.  Very quickly, we noticed that if all of us work independently, we’ll run out of plates!  So we decided to team up.  First,…

17.5

17.5

10 Rounds for time That’s right — this week marked the last week of the 2017 Crossfit Open and the workout has 10 ROUNDS of 9 Thrusters and 35 jump ropes.  For RX it’s 65 pound thrusters and 35 double unders.  For Scaled vixens like me, we had 45 pound Thrusters and 35 single unders — which was amazing because I could literally single under all day.  Double unders are a whole different story  0_0.  I’m lucky to get one…

17.2 was all about those Pull Ups

17.2 was all about those Pull Ups

Can I do them? no.   Well I can manage with assistance from little rubber bands that make it so I’m not having to pull up my entire body weight.  I can also do what’s called a jumping chin over bar pull up.  This is where the pullup bar is lowered to about 6 inches above my head… and I squat down and really jump myself up over the bar.  It’s still an upper body workout — since the last…

Row the Boat!

Row the Boat!

Red Line You know that feeling when you’re working out/running hard when all the sounds around you are blocked out and all you can hear is your heartbeat and ragged breathing?  I think some people call it Redline-ing. When you’re giving it all you’ve got — and your body knows you’re focused, so it shuts down all other functions to redirect your energy to working… The red line refers to the that little red tick mark on your speedometer — towards the top of…

Killing it

Killing it

Hubby and I have been killing it in the gym lately — and it’s starting to tax us! We are so beat that we decided to take the day as a recovery day — a passive recovery day where we are just going to relax and be lazy! Throughout the day I plan on foam rolling and stretching because my legs are killing me! Here’s why:  last nights workout was from a previous crossfit open 15.5 It was 27-21-15-9. Calories…

Handstand?!

Handstand?!

Good morning!!   Happy 5 days until Christmas to you all!   This morning, I decided to share with you what I’ve been working on since on my break from running.  I’ve written about my Crossfit/Bootcamp class, which I’m still taking 3-4 times a week.  This group experiences has opened so many doors for both Hubby and I!  It’s been amazing, even if it’s only been about a month.   My Handstand! My ultimate goal of becoming a ninja requires…

PR’s and Pecan Brittle

PR’s and Pecan Brittle

Started this morning at my gym with hubby.  We decided to warm up with a 500m row and work on some Deadlifts, bench press, and knee ups. Until I started lifting and doing functional fitness, I only ever associated PR’s with running times.  After today, I know that a PR can be applicable to many more things. Deadlifts Today was my third or fourth time doing deadlifts – ever – and I was able to deadlift more that 75% of…
