My Training Plan Update

My Training Plan Update

Are you training, or what? As school is starting, I can’t help but start to organize and plan all aspects of my life.  If it doesn’t get planned – it won’t get done! Part of that is meal planning and prepping, but a larger part is planning my training.  I’m still circling the idea of running a 5K race this winter, but haven’t found the “one” just yet.  I’m toying with the idea of either a Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas…

Travel WOD’s?

Travel WOD’s?

In my last post, I alluded to the fact that this week I’m eating Wild and Free!  I also mentioned how this means I’ll need to stay active and sneak in some workouts to balance things out.  The easiest workout for me to do while traveling is running — so there will be lots of that — but to keep things interesting, I’ve done some research as prep work. Here are a few workouts I found that require zero equipment…

Fueling Horror Story to share!

Fueling Horror Story to share!

Yesterday at the gym, one of the other members had a fueling issue and ending up puking after the workout.  It was a short workout and SO FUN, but that didn’t save him.  After he recovered a bit, he mentioned how this happens to him every 4 months or so — he’ll forget his optimum fueling plan and then end up puking after a workout.   Why did this happen? I can’t speak for others — but I have a…

Tired?

Tired?

This week has been just a series of bad nights of sleep — one after another.  It started Monday night; I couldn’t find a comfortable position due to “Post Murph Soreness”.   Memorial Day This Hero Workout was done Monday in honor of Memorial Day and all those who gave their lives for our country.  I heard on the news that morning that of the US population “of age” to serve, less that 1% currently do.  This, to me, shows…

Deadlifts and Double Unders

Deadlifts and Double Unders

Deadlifts Some days in the gym are a real struggle for me — but then others, like last night, are such a thrill! Last night we worked on Deadlifts and tried to find a new PR (Personal Record).  Our coach gave us around 30 minutes and there were a big handful of us all working on it.  Very quickly, we noticed that if all of us work independently, we’ll run out of plates!  So we decided to team up.  First,…

10 Rounds for time That’s right — this week marked the last week of the 2017 Crossfit Open and the workout has 10 ROUNDS of 9 Thrusters and 35 jump ropes.  For RX it’s 65 pound thrusters and 35 double unders.  For Scaled vixens like me, we had 45 pound Thrusters and 35 single unders — which was amazing because I could literally single under all day.  Double unders are a whole different story  0_0.  I’m lucky to get one…

This week’s Crossfit Open Workout was my FAVORITE so far!!   It’s a repeat from last year’s week 4 workout.  As many rounds/reps as possible in 13 minutes of: 55 Deadlifts (I scaled so my weight here was 95lbs) 55 Wallballs (10lbs to a 9ft target) 55 calories on the rower 55 Hand Release Push Ups I got all the way through the row and did 3 pushups (though only 2 counted due to terrible form) — I’m SUPER proud…

17.3

17.3

This week’s workout was Crossfit Open 17.3 — it was a good one! It was a snatch workout — different weights with 3 rounds at each weight.  The heavier the weights got, the fewer reps you’d do in each round.  To alternate, jumping chin-over-bar pullups were thrown in.   It was so fun! and HARD!   I didn’t earn any “Bonus time” — so in 8 mins I did as many of the chin over bars and snatches as I…

17.2 was all about those Pull Ups

17.2 was all about those Pull Ups

Can I do them? no.   Well I can manage with assistance from little rubber bands that make it so I’m not having to pull up my entire body weight.  I can also do what’s called a jumping chin over bar pull up.  This is where the pullup bar is lowered to about 6 inches above my head… and I squat down and really jump myself up over the bar.  It’s still an upper body workout — since the last…
