First Monday after a crazy eating spell!

First Monday after a crazy eating spell!

What the heck happened? I’ve been doing weight watchers Points Plus for the past 7 weeks — and I’ve noticed a startling trend.  Here’s what I saw: Not a single week was “perfect” or on plan!  NOT ONE! Mind you, my weight has still been trending downward — but each week I battled the binge!   I tracked everything I ate in both MyFitnessPal AND in my Bullet Journal (as a food log), and MFP shows that “on plan” is…

Why do things never go as planned?

Why do things never go as planned?

No brunch Our favorite brunch place was closed for renovations!?!?   How could this be?  We checked their website and social media accounts THAT MORNING as well as the night before and there was NO indication that any closing of any kind would be experienced.   Instead we tried a new place — and it was overpriced and not very good.  Later in the day I experienced some tummy troubles that could only be caused by that meal 🙁  …

Just for Fun Friday — I’m a zombie

Just for Fun Friday — I’m a zombie

For whatever reason, I could not settle my brain last night.  My thoughts kept leaping from one thing to the next without giving me a break to calm down and fall asleep.  I tried reading, watching brainless tv, sitting in the dark, counting sheep, and even some warm milk.   By 3 am I had tried everything — and even a grilled cheese sandwich snack — and was finally able to catch a few z’s.  Sadly, I was wide awake…

Five Consecutive Day Goal   Each week, I’m challenging myself to stay within 10% of my calorie and macro target for five consecutive days.  Basically, Monday through Friday — if I can stay within my macros and calories, I’ve reached my goal.  Gonna have to try a bit harder this week, and since it was a long weekend, I’m going to try to have 4 consecutive days and then also Sunday as my 5th day.   Accountability Check in time! …

Macros Check in — 8/23/17

Macros Check in — 8/23/17

What’s been happening? I mentioned this in a previous post, but I’m dabbling in flexible dieting or IIFYM (if it fits your macros).  This means I’m basically eating like a normal human, being sure to stick to the calorie goal my nutritionist recommended — as well as her recommended  macro percentages 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fats. It’s way easier to eat “on target” when consuming (1) foods I cook/prep myself and (2) foods that are closer to a single…

5 Consecutive Day Goal

Happy 4th of July All!!! Hope you’re all taking some time out to celebrate today 😀   5 days — Macro Counting My goal this week is to have 5 consecutive days of being right on target with my 40-30-30 macros.  I’ve been hitting and missing sporadically, so I planned this goal to strive for consistency!  I’m keeping in my the 4 things I’ve learned while Counting Macros — and the 10% grace… so that I can live!  Other…

4 things I’ve learned while Counting Macros

4 things I’ve learned while Counting Macros

As I wrote in my post about Flexible Dieting, I’ve been dabbling with macro targets recently.  It’s a much higher learning curve than I initially anticipated.  Originally I was all like, “Cool, no big deal, just eat ____g protein, ____g fat, and ____ carbs.  Easy!”  Oh boy… is it not.   Here are 4 things I’ve learned so far: (1.)  Think of most foods as a combination of macros — not a single macro Chicken is a protein.  Oatmeal is…

Avoiding the Grocery Store

Avoiding the Grocery Store

I’ll admit it — I hate going to the grocery store.  It’s a hugely stressful event for me, but I do it to myself. I’ll wait and wait and wait before going to the grocery store — even when it means meals are a patchwork of whatever is left in the house (plain toast with a side of cottage cheese, leftover spaghetti sauce on rice, etc…).  This of course means that the house is totally empty of anything edible by…

IIFYM – Flexible Dieting

IIFYM – Flexible Dieting

Ever since training for my marathon, I’ve really felt the need to fuel my body for my goals.  In the past, I’ve focused on the scale and on points (weight watchers).  This left me pretty much obsessed with food — when will I eat next?  How much can I eat?  What recipes/foods/products let me eat the most for the fewest points?  Basically, food was all I thought about.  I started gaming the system — tweaking the serving size until my…

Cheat Day? Or no Cheat Day?

Cheat Day? Or no Cheat Day?

Current Eating Moods After meeting with a nutritionist and giving her the log in information to MyFitnessPal (the calorie tracker I use daily) — I feel more accountable for what I’m eating on a day to day basis.  It’s only been about a month, but I’ve started to see myself “normalize” into a few routines/set meals. For breakfast, I’ve been loving on Eggs.  I’ll hard boil a bunch one day, then bring 2 at a time with me for quick…
